Brief
The garden, called 'Sustainability Can be Sexy', was intended for a family with young children with an emphasis on sustainability and practicality - to incorporate renewable energy and to use recycled products wherever possible.
However, the brief was to achieve a contemporary feel and not the 'Heath Robinson' effect often associated with eco-friendly gardens. -
We ensured there were opportunities for play, entertaining and relaxation. The garden was fairly low-maintenance but with good year-round interest and giving the opportunity to grow a few vegetables. There was also scope for composting and water saving.

Planting
Helen Ellison, our garden designer, carefully selected the plant scheme for this Garden Design, each individual plant compliments the last, and the colours draw your eye effortlessly.

The Hobbit House
The Hobbit House was a favourite part of the design for us. The exterior turfing and the Silver Birch decoration made it look like a hill, the skylight roof allowed light to enter the solid structure and turned it into a great playhouse for the kids and grown ups alike!
Imagine having this feature in your own garden! A fabulous pass time for the family, and a great talking point!
