-
Brief
This was the boring back garden to a new build property consisting of a scruffy patch of lawn and a path to the back gate – hardly an inspiring view from the patio doors that formed almost the whole of one wall of the sitting room.
Our clients had fond memories of holidays in the Mediterranean and wanted to recreate that warm feeling in their own garden. -
Solution
The fact that the garden was enclosed by walls lent itself to a courtyard style garden and we enhanced this further by using terracotta tiles for a touch of the Mediterranean.
-
We added a wall-mounted ‘Bacchus’ mask – although unfortunately only water emerged from his mouth, not wine!
-
The planting reflects the same style, using palms and Italian Cypresses to good effect. Perfumed plants such as Lavender and Jasmine make this a fragrant spot to enjoy summer evenings.
-
A perspective arched mirror not only reflects light into the space but can also make the space appear larger.
