Brief
A new build property and the garden was fairly typical – very small, laid to lawn and a few paving slabs outside the back door.
Our client had a good idea of what she wanted – some decking, some paving, a bamboo pergola, contemporary lighting and some architectural planting. However, she worked long hours and it therefore had to be fairly low maintenance. Privacy was also an issue.

Solution
Best use of the space was made by constructing the pergola across one corner of the garden. This also had the effect of screening the commercial buildings to the rear from view.
Beneath this a circular deck was built and stained a rich brown. Blue LEDs were inserted to the surface, and to the step down to the patio, to give the ‘wow’ factor our client desired. -
The paving chosen for the sunbathing area was designed to complement the flooring in the kitchen which opened out on to it and was laid in a contemporary pattern.

The whole layout gives the illusion of much more space, and privacy from neighbours is provided by bamboos and other tall and climbing plants to the boundaries.

Lush semi-tropical foliage plants and flowers in a calming colour palette of blues, purples and white, complete the picture to create a tranquil haven for our client and her family.
