English Cottage & Country Gardens » From Russia With Love
These were the established gardens to a substantial detached property in a leafy private estate in Keston Park, Kent.
Brief
Unfortunately, although well kept, the garden had been planted in a rather unimaginative way with boring shrubs and little seasonal colour.
Our clients wanted a traditional English country style garden with some formal touches.
Solution
A planting plan was produced and executed so as to provide colour and interest throughout the seasons.
Existing planting was re-used where possible and added to with a mix of deciduous and evergreen shrubs and perennials.

A long, south-facing border, backed by a beautiful, weathered, red brick wall, was planted with a variety of typical cottage garden favourites such as climbing roses, clematis, Lavender, Delphiniums and Iris.

However, as a large part of the garden is shaded, woodland areas were also created and planted with Camellias, Rhododendrons, Foxgloves, Hostas and many other shade-loving plants.

The front garden was transformed with a more formal treatment of low box hedging enclosing more colourful traditional planting, to provide an altogether more imposing and welcoming approach to the property.
