English Cottage & Country Gardens

We at Floral & Hardy love traditional English Country gardens.

You're in the right hands when we design your garden as we take care over the planting schemes and the stonework used if you decide you want a patio. We can create those special 'hidden places' in the garden where you can enjoy a different view wherever you stand or sit.

Inspire yourself by browsing one of our classic English garden design projects below:

To the Manor Born

This the large back garden to a substantial and attractive, red brick, Grade II listed property in Pembury, picturesquely situated overlooking the village green.

Village Gem

These are the gardens surrounding a modern detached property in the pretty village of Shoreham in Kent that is built in the grounds of a large period house.

Country Living

Our clients had renovated this detached property in Chislehurst, Kent to a very high standard and they wanted to replicate the same quality of finish to the outside spaces.

Great Expectations

This is a beautiful period house in Rochester, Kent near to both the castle and cathedral, with views over the River Medway, and our clients wanted the garden to reflect that, both in style and quality.

The View Beyond

This was a recently refurbished, modern bungalow with roof extension in Hayes Village, Kent with lovely views over the Common.

Country Garden with Natural Water Course

he whole plot was surrounded by large trees and hedging and there was little colour in the garden. Our clients wanted to create a traditional country-style garden with lots of colour and traditional features. They are keen gardeners and also wanted a space for growing vegetables and fruit.

From Russia with Love

Although well kept, the garden had been planted in a rather unimaginative way with boring shrubs and little seasonal colour.

Our clients wanted a traditional English country style garden with some formal touches.

Oak arbour with natural patio

From Harbour to Arbour

The garden was dominated by a large swimming pool and as the children were grown up so instead our clients wanted a tranquil seating area surrounded by beautiful planting in which to entertain and relax.

Garden for a New House

This garden was the small, shady, north-facing garden to a relatively new build house on a private estate.

Modern & Traditional Meet

This garden is on a steeply sloping, triangular plot with complicated level changes.

Victorian Cottage

Our client is a keen gardener who wanted a complete overhaul of her garden space. She wanted something pretty and private that she could relax in and develop over time.

Escape to the Country

The existing plot sloped up away from the house and was rather tired in appearance. The deck at the rear was a particular eyesore.
