Our client was in the process of completely renovating the interiors of the property and wanted an outside space to reflect its period details, and also to provide a green oasis in which to escape the stresses of city life.
Our clients had fond memories of holidays in the Mediterranean and wanted to recreate that warm feeling in their own garden.
The fact that the garden was enclosed by walls lent itself to a courtyard style garden and we enhanced this further by using terracotta tiles for a touch of the Mediterranean.
Small Courtyard for a Lady of Leisure
Our client wanted an interesting, easy to look after patio garden with a traditional feel, but did not want a symmetrical design typical of many such schemes. She wanted something a bit ‘different’.
Our clients wanted an elegant dining area making the best use of the space and in a style in keeping with the property and its interiors.
This was the tiny courtyard garden to a basement flat in central London.
Our client wanted a practical space they could use to relax and entertain in, but the plot was divided awkwardly by a step making use of a table and chairs impossible. Tall planting, surrounding walls and buildings, and the use of dark decking also meant that it was a gloomy and uninviting space.
Our clients were keen gardeners and could not wait to inject some life into this barren space.
They requested natural stone with raised beds in a style to complement the age of the property and a formal planting scheme with a French twist.
