This was the invaluable outside space that came with our clients’ garden flat in a prestigious area of London. However, it was proving impractical for the young family as it was approached via slippery, uneven, jagged edged steps.
The gravel surface also became strewn with fallen leaves from the surrounding trees and was very difficult to keep clean – a problem when the flat had white floors throughout!
Our clients requested a practical, but beautiful design with real ‘wow’ factor.
Solution:
Beautiful Travertine stone was chosen for the patio and steps for its clean, elegant lines and to complement the existing garden furniture.
The property’s interiors had been finished to a very high standard and the garden was designed to achieve flow between the two spaces.
Raised beds and contemporary cedar trellis work frame the vibrant entertaining area, which comes alive at night with an exciting lighting scheme.
The children were not forgotten as they now have a playhouse, making use of the awkward ‘dog-leg’ corner with soft artificial turf to play on.
There is a slide, cleverly fitted to the side of the steps
… and a safe, but fun water feature!
