The site sloped steeply away from the house and our clients wanted to create levels on which to entertain and relax, and for their children to play.
They told us that they wanted to create a ‘party garden’ with an outdoor kitchen (as there were two flights of stairs to negotiate with trays of food and drinks to the kitchen in the house!) and plenty of room for friends to dine in comfort.
The design has a curvy theme to disguise the rectangular shape of the garden and incorporates a large patio area paved with beautiful, sawn sandstone and surrounded by raised planting beds to bring planting within view of the house.
Steps lead down to the second level, which is lawned and is again edged with colourful planting. The third level leads to the woodland area at the bottom of the garden and also has room for a circular paved area for catching the last of the evening sun. The children’s trampoline is also tucked away here too.
The garden comes into its own after dark, with the outdoor kitchen equiped with all necessary appliances including barbecue, gas burners, fridge and sink being put to good use. The cabana and bar area are reminiscent of times spent on holiday and could almost have you believing you were somewhere far more exotic. Now all our clients are hoping for are the summers to match!
