This stunning space in Wimbledon is now all finished. Take a look through the brief below and check out the photos of the finished space.
Our client has lived with their garden for some years, but were ready for a change and wanted us to create a beautiful space in which to relax and entertain.
The patio area they previously had was a little too small and the paving was a bit tired, so we replaced it with an attractive natural stone patio large enough to comfortably take a table and chairs to seat 6-8 people.
We created an angular design, with a series of squares & rectangles formed by the patio, the lawn and planting beds, but set at an angle to the house. This increased the apparent width of the garden and gives an illusion of more space.
To make this a really usable space we installed an awning. This modern addition is also retractable, so as not to block any light to the kitchen when not in use.
A raised planting bed in front of the neighbours wall allowed us to make more of this vertical space with perennials and climbing plants.
To really set the garden off we built a bespoke smoke house! Any keen BBQ fan will surely be jealous of this one? This brilliant cooking area sits at the end of the garden with hatches opening to face the house.
As another focal point in the garden we added a spherical water feature. This adds the pleasing element of sound and will also look stunning when up-lit at night.
The new planting scheme included much of the existing planting, but also included further low maintenance shrubs, perennials and bulbs which will extend the season of interest to give a garden with year-round appeal.
