Our client is a keen gardener who wanted a complete overhaul of her garden space. She wanted something pretty and private that she could relax in and develop over time.
She no longer needed the greenhouse or a lawn and wanted to turn as much of the space as possible over to planting and also to make use of the redundant, narrow side return beside the kitchen.
The lawn was removed and in its place interesting planting introduced, including tall Cypress trees which, from inside the house masked an ugly post on the railway line beyond.
In place of the greenhouse, we gave our client a pretty summerhouse in which to sit and enjoy the new garden.
A winding gravel path leads to the summerhouse and back gate, passing a bubbling water feature and a raised turf seat – built especially for the cat to enjoy!
The area to the side of the house, overlooked from the kitchen window, was given interest with the addition of two trellis columns, which come alive at night when lit.
