We happened upon a sign to these public gardens near Tonbridge in Kent on our way back from a weekend away recently and were so glad we did.
The gardens cover about 10 acres and consist of both formal and informal planting and woodland, and, although we were visiting a bit late in the season, there was still plenty to look at.
There’s something for everyone – ranging from the traditional to the quirky, with long mixed borders, a rockery, an Italianate walled garden, a bog garden, mosaics, modern statuary and many other features.
There’s also a delightful tea room, or you can enjoy your tea and cake by the formal fish pond, as we did!
